IT STARTED WITH OUR KIDS
In 2001, we wanted a better way to protect our 4 fair-skinned kids from harmful UV rays. Sun protection beach clothing was basically non-existent in the U.S. Back then, we were buying swimwear from Australia, but our kids didn't like wearing it because it was uncomfortable and not fashionable.
Then a light bulb went off! Tuga (pronounced "too-ga") was born. We decided that starting our own line of sun protection swimsuits that our kids would want to wear would be ideal. We're still family owned and operated with no investors telling us how to run our business. We love to design colorful, fashionable, and super comfy beachwear for everyone in the family.
We'd like to think that we're doing a small part in educating about smart sun protection habits. More people are diagnosed with skin cancer each year in the U.S. than all other cancers combined. On average, a person’s risk for melanoma doubles if they have had more than five sunburns. And at least one in five Americans will develop skin cancer by the age of 70.
